The Case of Cracking The Nutcase – Lesbian Couple Cancel’s Prom?

Well, there’s some extra crazypants going on in Itawamba County, Mississippi. Apparently Constance McMillen and her girlfriend wanted to attend the prom, and this being Mississippi (where I’m sure you can still find Jim Crow laws on the books if you look hard enough), the school was so appalled by the idea of lesbians attending their prom that they up and canceled it.

According to Friendly Atheist, a great blog I came across this morning, they’d also been involved in a school controversy in 1996 because of their (even more craziness) practice of intercom prayer and bible classes in school.

Okay, I know I’m literally an old fashioned girl, but the one nice thing about living vintage in the twenty-tweens is the ability to learn from the mistakes of the past, including intolerance fueled by religion (or any kind of intolerance, to be a bit clearer).

Now, I’m not the sharpest potato in the loaf by far, but even I know how to use hindsight. There isn’t one damn thing wrong with homosexuality, and you know, not one person who’s ever demonized it to me has ever come up any kind of proof to the contrary? Argh, I’m gonna get mad and get off the point, lol. Just go check out the link to Friendly Atheist above and read the rest of the story.
